Tips In Choosing The Location Of A Camp
One of the factors that worth considering so utmost camping enjoyment can be assured is the place where a campsite can be set. Choosing the correct location of a camp is crucial not only for the campers' pleasure but also for their convenience and safety. Fortunately, there are many camping sites that are operated by government agencies. These campsites are well maintained and generally safe. Some have modern facilities such as faucets, toilets and log cabins to ensure the comfort of campers. However, many campers prefer to experience camping out in the open. When choosing the location of a camp, there are several things that you should look out for. The first thing that should be considered in selecting the location of a camp is ground level. You should set camp at a relatively high, level ground. That's because water will flow away from your tent instead of under it in case it rains. Also, you should never set your tent on a slope. Else, you will roll out of your sleeping bag. Worse, your tent might fall off the slope. The second thing that should be looked for when choosing the location of a camp is a water source. Water is very important for camping. You would need it for washing, drinking, bathing and cooking. A nearby water source such a river, stream or brook is perfect. Just be sure to bring water purifying tablets. An important thing to consider when choosing the location of a camp is the cooking or campfire area. This area should be located on a flat, level area away from leaves, twigs, bush or anything that can catch fire. Be sure not to leave a burning campfire. It is also a good idea to select a location that offers shade. An area near trees is excellent. Setting your camp in a shade protects you from the heat of the sun during the day. If you want to camp during winter, the trees can protect your camp from the brunt of the cold wind. However, be cautious. Do not set up your camp directly under a tree when you think that it will rain. That's because you will be more vulnerable to lightning strikes. A tree might fall on your camp when it struck by lightning or blown down by the wind. Also, water from the leaves will continue to drizzle down on your camp long after the rain. With these tips, you should be able to find a perfect campsite! |
