    Swimming At Camp Ak-O-Mak

    One of North America's finest all girls' sports camps is Camp Ak-O-Mak. The camp gives girls a great opportunity for personal development, athletic skills improvement and social skills improvement while having fun with other girls in a safe and exciting environment.

    Camp Ak-O-Mak is located on Ahmic Lake in Ontario, Canada. It is surrounded by deep green forests around the Almaguin Highlands. This location is ideal for trekking, adventuring, camping and swimming.

    Camp Ak-O-Mak features large, grassy playing fields, two tennis courts, a climbing wall, a ropes course, a mini-golf course and driving range, a softball diamond, two volleyball courts and swimming pools.

    The female campers live in comfortable and cozy 13 person cabins together with 2 or 3 counselors. During their stay in the camp, they are served with delicious and nutritious meals.

    There are also other facilities such as a sauna, trampoline, a diving tower and an archery range. Since it is located near a beautiful lake, Camp Ak-O-Mak also features a dock where campers can ride in canoes, sailboats and kayaks.

    To ensure the safety and quality of the facilities, the camp is regularly inspected by health government officials. The staff makes sure that the camp meets all requirements of the Ontario Camping Association and the Canadian Camping Association.

    But these are not the main reasons why Camp Ak-O-Mak is popular. This camp is actually the world's first competitive swim camp for girls.

    The camp has a reputation for teaching the basics of swimming for all levels of ability. These abilities range from basic swimming to competitive swimming. In fact, more than 350 All-American swimmers and 45 Olympians have trained in Camp Ak-O-Mak.

    The camp has 50 meter and 25 yard pools that can be used for practice in competitive swimming. The nearby lake can also be used for open water swimming and endurance swimming.

    Camp Ak-O-Mak does not limit itself to sports swimming. Recreational swimmers can also use the facilities to develop their confidence and courage when entering water.

    To this purpose, Camp Ak-O-Mak has developed a "three-times-daily" swimming program. As its name implies, campers are taught the techniques distributed over three swimming sessions per day. At the end of the summer, the swimmer who has the most miles wins a special award called the Matt Mann Camp.

    Spending summer in beautiful Camp Ak-O-Mak, swimming translates to great fun, good health and excellent challenge for all girls.
